Instructor: Linda Olson

Take this course and learn about threats posed by naturally occurring health hazards such as mold and radon; man-made materials and components such as asbestos and lead-based paint; and defective materials such as Chinese Drywall. Learn about the sources of these toxins, their effect on our health, what laws provide us with protection from them and what disclosures we as REALTORS® have to make. In addition, learn how to guide your customers in the identification of potentially toxic issues in their homes, in how to reduce their exposure, how to test for its presence and extent, and how to re-mediate the problems so that there are no remaining issues that could affect a successful sale and closing on a property.

This course is excellent for any REALTOR that may be showing older homes or vacant homes that have been "sitting" for a while in our humid Florida heat.  The knowledge gained will be a great tool for your business!

Linda Olson

Linda Olson is a Realtor with D. Basile Real Estate, LLC in Melbourne, Florida. Linda specializes in all non-residential property types, especially vacant land throughout Brevard County.

Linda brings a unique perspective to the real estate field as she also has 20 plus years of experience as an environmental consultant. This allows her to offer specialized services regarding the intricacy of determining the developability of a property and to provide advice as to how to optimize a property's use in relation to environmental concerns. Linda also uses this expertise to assist Owners to set a competitive price that considers what a Buyer may need to do to develop the land. In addition, she helps Buyers to negotiate a better price on the purchase of land as she can assist them to determine the costs of improving the property such as completing environmental studies, assessing impacts, and providing mitigation.

During both Linda's environmental and real estate careers, for more than 10 years, she was actively involved with the local Home Builders and Contractors Association. The additional knowledge that she gained from this association and the contacts she has with builders, remodelers, and distributors of products gives her unique information and insight into "green" building techniques for improving a home's energy efficiency.
